Friedrich Gulda

Friedrich Gulda (16 May 1930 - 27 January 2000) was an Austrian pianist who performed in both the classical and jazz fields. Born in Vienna as the son of a teacher, Gulda began learning to play the piano from Felix Pazofsky at the age of 7; in 1942, he entered the Vienna Music Academy, where he studied piano and musical theory under Bruno Seidlhofer and Joseph Marx. After winning first prize at the International Competition in Geneva four years later, in 1946, he began going on concert tours throughout the world. Together with Jörg Demus and Paul Badura-Skoda, Gulda formed what became known as the "Viennese troika".

Friedrich Gulda est né le 16 mai 1930 à Vienne et mort le 27 janvier (le même jour que la naissance de Mozart, ce qu'il souhaitait !) 2000 à . C'était un musicien autrichien, pianiste et claveciniste classique d'une part, pianiste et compositeur de jazz d'autre part. Nato a Vienna, figlio di un insegnante, Gulda iniziò lo studio del pianoforte con Felix Pazofsky all'età di sette anni; nel 1942, entrò alla Vienna Music Academy, dove studiò pianoforte e teoria musicale con Bruno Seidlhofer e Joseph Marx. Dopo aver vinto il primo premio al concorso internazionale di Ginevra, quattro anni più tardi, nel 1946, iniziò i suoi concerti in tutto il mondo. Con Jörg Demus e Paul Badura-Skoda, Gulda formava quella che divenne nota come la "troika viennese".
