French Directory

The Executive Directory (in French Directoire exécutif), commonly known as the Directory (or Directoire) held executive power in France from November 2, 1795 until November 10, 1799: following the Convention and preceding the Consulate. Five Directors shared power. The period of this regime, commonly referred to as the Directoire era, constitutes the last stage of the French Revolution and precedes the coming of the Consulate, which, in turn, was followed by the First Empire.

Das Direktorium (franz. Le Directoire) (26. Oktober 1795 - 24. Dezember 1799) war die letzte Regierungsform der Französischen Revolution. Es ersetzte als Folge des Aufstandes des 9. Thermidor II des Republikanischen Kalenders (27. Juli 1794) und des Sturzes Maximilien de Robespierres die Herrschaft des Nationalkonvents. Die Verfassung des Direktoriums (Verfassung des Jahres III) wurde am 22. August 1795 vom Nationalkonvent verabschiedet. Sie trat, nach Volksabstimmung, am 26. Oktober in Kraft.

Dyrektoriat - pięcioosobowy organ rządowej egzekutywy w schyłkowym okresie rewolucji francuskiej 1789 r., ustanowiony w 1795 r. przez Konwent Narodowy, który następnie rozwiązał i przekształcił w dwuizbowy parlament. Funkcjonował do zamachu stanu, dokonanego 18 brumaire`a 1799 przez pierwszego konsula Napoleona Bonaparte.

Direttorio è il termine con il quale si definisce l'organo posto al vertice delle istituzioni francesi nell'ultima parte della Rivoluzione francese, ossia nel periodo cosiddetto del termidoro, che pose fine al terrore dell'anno II. Dal Direttorio ha preso nome la forma di governo direttoriale che fu la forma adottata da tutte le repubbliche sorelle. Essa è attualmente ancora adottata soltanto dalla Svizzera e da tutti i Cantoni membri della Confederazione.
