Frankfurt (Oder)

Frankfurt is a city in Brandenburg, Germany located on the Oder River, on the German-Polish border directly opposite the town of Słubice which was a part of Frankfurt until 1945. At the end of the 1980s it reached a population peak with more than 87,000 inhabitants. The number dropped below 70,000 in 2002 and is expected to reach 58,000 in 2010.

Frankfurt (Oder) ist eine am Westufer der Oder gelegene kreisfreie Stadt im Osten des Landes Brandenburg. Der Talweg der Oder markiert die Grenze zur Republik Polen. Seit dem 1. Januar 1999 führt die Stadt die Zusatzbezeichnung „Kleiststadt“ – nach Heinrich von Kleist, der hier 1777 geboren wurde –, die aber nicht Bestandteil der amtlichen Schreibweise ist.

Frankfurt nad Odrą (niem. Frankfurt (Oder), dł. Frankobrod nad Odra) - miasto na prawach powiatu leżące na zachodnim brzegu Odry, we wschodniej części Niemiec w landzie Brandenburgia.Leży na wysokości 40 m n.p.m. Liczba ludności: 62,6 tys. (2006), przed zjednoczeniem Niemiec w 1990 ludność miasta wynosiła 86,4 tys. (1987). W roku akademickim dodatkowo około 3500 studentów.We Frankfurcie nad Odrą znajduje się założony 15 lipca 1991 Uniwersytet Viadrina, który od 1998 jest obok UAM w Poznaniu drugą uczelnią macierzystą dla Collegium Polonicum w Słubicach. Sąsiadujące z Frankfurtem nad Odrą polskie miasto Słubice do 1945 było częścią Frankfurtu i nazywało się Dammvorstadt.
