Francs

The franc is the name of several currency units, most notably the French franc, the currency of France until it adopted the euro in 2002; and the Swiss franc, still a major world currency today due to the prominence of Swiss financial institutions. The name is said to derive from the Latin inscription francorum rex ("King of the Franks") on early French coins, or from the French franc, meaning "free" (and "frank").

Franc ist eine Münz- und Währungsbezeichnung aus Frankreich, die sich auf andere frankophone Länder ausgeweitet hat.Die Bezeichnung geht auf die Devise „Francorum Rex“ zurück, die auf Münzen, die erstmals 1360 als Lösegeld zur Befreiung König Johanns geprägt wurden, zu finden war . Im Spätmittelalter, zur Zeit des Hundertjährigen Krieges, wurde in Frankreich eine Goldmünze mit dem Namen Franc d´or geprägt. Im 16. und 17. Jahrhundert war der Franc eine Silbermünze (Franc d'argent). 1795 wurde der französische Franc als einheitliche, dezimal unterteilte Währung eingeführt (1 Franc = 100 Centimes). Die Währungsbezeichnung verbreitete sich danach in andere europäische Staaten und in französische Kolonien. Der Goldfranken diente im Völkerbund und ab 1920 im Weltpostverein als internationale Verrechnungseinheit.

Francs to miejscowość i gmina we Francji, w regionie Akwitania, w departamencie Gironde.Według danych na rok 1990 gminę zamieszkiwały 172 osoby, a gęstość zaludnienia wynosiła 26 osób/km² (wśród 2290 gmin  Akwitanii Francs plasuje się na 1005. miejscu pod względem liczby ludności, natomiast pod względem powierzchni na miejscu 1309.).

Un franco è diviso in 100 centimes; è adottato in Svizzera e Liechtenstein, in molti dei paesi francofoni africani e, prima dell'euro, in Francia, Belgio e Lussemburgo, oltre ad avere corso legale ad Andorra e Monaco.
