Frýdek-Místek District

Frýdek-Místek District (, ) is a district (okres) within the Moravian-Silesian Region of the Czech Republic. Its administrative center is the city of Frýdek-Místek. It was created by 1960 reform of administrative divisions. Its eastern part was before 1960 a part of Český Těšín District, which ceased to exist by 1960 reform. Creation of Frýdek-Místek District is viewed by a part of Polish minority as a Czechization act of government, as Český Těšín District covered exact southern part of Zaolzie and Poles were percentually more numerous than in the newly created Frýdek-Místek District which also encompasses ethnically pure Czech areas outside of Zaolzie.

Powiat Frýdek-Místek (czes. Okres Frýdek-Místek) to powiat w kraju morawsko-śląskiego w Republice Czeskiej. Jego siedziba znajduje się w mieście Frýdek-Místek. Powierzchnia powiatu wynosi 1 272,75 km², zamieszkuje go 226 863 osób (gęstość zaludnienia wynosi 178,35 mieszkańców na 1 km²). Powiat ten liczy 77 miejscowości, w tym 7 miast. Na terenie powiatu zamieszkuje ok. 18 tysięczna mniejszość polska.
