Football Conference

The Football Conference is a football league at the top of the National League System of non-League football in England. Conference National is the highest of the three divisions within the Football Conference, with Conference North and Conference South serving as regional feeders one step down. The Football Conference consisted of only one division up until 2004, but expanded as part of an extensive restructuring of the National League System which took effect beginning with the 2004-05 season.

La plus haute division est la Conference National, positionnée au niveau 5 du système pyramidal anglais ; un échelon plus bas se trouvent les Conference North et Conference South, toutes deux classées au niveau 6.

Die Football Conference ist das oberste Fußballliga-System des englischen National League Systems, dem Bereich unterhalb der Football League (der sogenannte „Non-League football“) in England. Die Conference ist unterteilt in drei Spielklassen, wobei die Conference National in der Hierarchie zuoberst angesiedelt ist. Die Conference North und Conference South, als regional organisierte Ligen, befinden sich eine Stufe darunter und Mannschaften aus diesen Ligen können zum Ende der Saison in die Conference National aufsteigen. Die Football Conference bestand bis 2004 aus nur einer Division, wurde jedoch aufgrund einer großen Umstrukturierung innerhalb des National League Systems zu Beginn der Saison 2004/05 erweitert.

De Football Conference is de voetbalcompetitie in Engeland, direct onder de Premier League en de Football League. Het staat aan de top van het National League System van het zogeheten non-leaguevoetbal. De Conference National is de hoogste van de drie divisies in de Football Conference, met daaronder de Conference North en Conference South. Deze laatste twee divisies fungeren als regionale competities, van waaruit promotie naar en degradatie uit de Conference National kan worden gemaakt. Tot 2004 bestond de Football Conferernce maar uit een divisie, maar sinds seizoen 2004/05 zijn de twee divisies er onder toegevoegd. De clubs hierin kwamen uit de Northern Premier League, Southern League en Isthmian League.
