Finsteraarhorn

The Finsteraarhorn is the highest mountain in the Bernese Alps range of the Swiss Alps and the highest mountain in the Bernese Oberland. It is the third most prominent peak in the Alps. The view from the summit takes in the surrounding peaks in Switzerland, as well as mountains in France, Germany, Austria and Italy.

Le Finsteraarhorn est le point culminant du massif des Alpes bernoises à 4 274 mètres d'altitude, sur la frontière entre le canton du Valais et de Berne en Suisse. Le sommet constitue un point de repère particulièrement visible à cause de sa pointe et de sa face abrupte.

Das Finsteraarhorn ist mit 4'274 m ü. M. der höchste Gipfel der  Berner Alpen und der höchste Punkt des Kantons Bern, zudem höchster Berg der Schweiz östlich von Lötschberg und Simplon. Es dominiert die Panoramen der gesamten Zentral- und Ostschweiz.Das Finsteraarhorn hat eine markante, haifischflossenartige Form und erscheint in der Draufsicht der Grate von NW oder SO als steiles Horn. Quer dazu erscheint es als breit hingelagertes Dreieck.Geologisch gehört es zum Aarmassiv und besteht aus Amphibolit.

Il Finsteraarhorn è una montagna dell'oberland bernese (4.274 m) in Svizzera.Situato all'interno del più grande complesso glaciale delle Alpi, ovvero quello che comprende il ghiacciaio dell'Aletsch, è circondato da un gran numero di alte vette e lingue glaciali. La sua forma particolare, una piramide slanciata verso il cielo, lo rende una cima ben riconoscibile e decisamente affascinante. Fu scalato per la prima volta nel 1829 dalla cresta Nord-Ovest da parte di Jakob Leuthold e Johann Wahren.
