Finland, officially the Republic of Finland , is a Nordic country situated in Northern Europe. It has borders with Sweden to the west, Russia to the east, and Norway to the north, while Estonia lies to its south across the Gulf of Finland. The capital city is Helsinki.Finland has a population of 5,238,460 people, spread over an area of . The majority of the population is concentrated in the southern part of the country. Finland is the sixth largest country in Europe in terms of area, with a low population density of 15.5 persons per square kilometre, making it the most sparsely populated country in the European Union. As their mother tongue, most Finns speak Finnish, one of the few official languages of the European Union that is not of Indo-European origin. The second official language, Swedish, is spoken natively by a 5.5 percent minority.

Finnland (finnisch Suomi ; schwedisch Finland ), amtlich Republik Finnland (Suomen tasavalta, Republiken Finland), ist ein Staat in Nordeuropa und Mitglied der Europäischen Union. Er grenzt an Schweden, Norwegen, Russland und die Ostsee. Bei 5,3 Millionen Einwohnern auf einer Fläche nur wenig kleiner als Deutschland gehört Finnland zu den am dünnsten besiedelten Ländern Europas. Ein großer Teil der Bevölkerung konzentriert sich dabei auf den Süden des Landes mit der Hauptstadt Helsinki. Die beiden offiziellen Landessprachen sind Finnisch und Schwedisch. 92 % der Bevölkerung sind finnisch-, 6 % schwedischsprachig. Die schwedischsprachige Inselgruppe Åland hat einen weitreichenden Autonomiestatus.

| Finland, officieel de Republiek Finland, is een land in Noord-Europa met inwoners dat tussen Rusland in het oosten, Noorwegen in het noorden en Zweden in het noordwesten ligt. Ten zuiden wordt het van Estland gescheiden door de Finse Golf. Ten westen ligt de Botnische Golf en ten zuidwesten de Oostzee aan de overkant waarvan – wederom – buurland Zweden ligt.
