The original Ferris Wheel, sometimes also referred to as the Chicago Wheel, was the centerpiece of the 1893 World's Columbian Exposition in Chicago, Illinois.

Ferris wheel
A Ferris wheel (also known as an observation wheel or big wheel) is a nonbuilding structure consisting of a rotating upright wheel with passenger cars (sometimes referred to as gondolas or capsules) attached to the rim in such a way that as the wheel turns, the cars are kept upright, usually by gravity.

Wiener Riesenrad
Das Wiener Riesenrad im Prater ist eine Sehenswürdigkeit und ein Wahrzeichen Wiens. Es wurde 1897 zur Feier des 50. Thronjubiläums Kaiser Franz Josephs I. errichtet und war zur damaligen Zeit das größte Riesenrad der Welt.

Grande roue
Une grande roue est une variante de très grande taille des manèges de type roue. L'attraction est constituée d'une roue à la verticale ainsi que de nacelles attachées à la jante où montent les passagers. La première grande roue fut conçue par George Washington Gale Ferris, Jr. à l'occasion de l'Exposition universelle de 1893 à Chicago. On trouve généralement les grandes roues dans les parcs d'attractions ou les fêtes foraines, mais depuis l'inauguration de London Eye, la grande roue de Londres, on en trouve de plus en plus dans les centres villes.

Diabelski mlyn
Diabelski młyn (również diabelskie koło) to rodzaj karuzeli obracającej się na poziomej osi. Główne elementy to zorientowane pionowo koło oraz przyczepione do obwodu siedzenia.
Konstrukcję diabelskiego młyna spopularyzował George Washington Gale Ferris, Jr. Zaprojektował on 75-metrowy egzemplarz na wystawę światową w Chicago w roku 1893. Obiekt miał konkurować z wieżą Eiffla, główną atrakcją wystawy w Paryżu z 1889 roku. Pierwszy diabelski młyn ważył 2200 ton oraz mieścił 2160 osób. Oś konstrukcji składała się największego fragmentu stali, jaki kiedykolwiek wcześniej wyprodukowano. Wysokość obiektu równała się 26 piętrom, co dawało przewagę 4 pięter nad najwyższym w tamtych czasach drapaczem chmur. Obecnie największy diabelski młyn o wysokości 112,5 m i średnicy koła 100 m znajduje się w Osace.
