Ferhat Abbas (24 October 1899 – 23 December 1985, Kabyle: Ferḥat Σabbas) was an Algerian political leader and briefly acted in a provisional capacity as the yet-to-become independent country's President from 1958 to 1961.

Ferhat Abbas
Ferhat Abbas (1899 - 1985) (en arabe : , en kabyle: Ferḥat Ɛabbas), de son vrai nom Ferhat Mekki Abbas, était un homme politique algérien, leader nationaliste et membre du FLN durant le guerre d'indépendance de l'Algérie. Premier président du Gouvernement provisoire de la République algérienne (GPRA) de 1958 à 1961, il est élu, après l'indépendance du pays, président de l'Assemblée nationale constituante devenant ainsi le premier Chef d'État de la République algérienne démocratique et populaire.

Ferhat Abbas
Ferhat Abbas (urodzony 24 października 1899 - zmarł 23 grudnia 1985) - polityk algierski i działacz niepodległościowy.

Ferhat Abbas reprezentował interesy umiarkowanego nurtu burżuazji. W 1938 założył Algierską Unię Ludową, która głosiła program autonomii wewnętrznej i zrównania w prawach osadników francuskich z ludnością tubylczą. W 1946 powołał Demokratyczną Unię Manifestu Algierskiego. Od 1955 był członkiem Frontu Wyzwolenia Narodowego. W latach 1958-61 stał na czele Tymczasowego Rządu Republiki Algierskiej. W latach 1962-1963 pełnił funkcję przewodniczącego Zgromadzenia Narodowego Algierii. W wyniku różnic w kierownictwie FWN wycował się z polityki.
