Fenghuang

Fenghuang (; Japanese: 鳳凰 hō-ō; Korean: 봉황 bonghwang; Vietnamese: Phượng Hoàng) are mythological Chinese birds that reign over all other birds. The males are called Feng and the females Huang. In modern times, however, such a distinction of gender is often no longer made and the Feng and Huang are blurred into a single feminine entity so that the bird can be paired with the Chinese dragon, which has male connotations. The Fenghuang is also called the "August Rooster" since it sometimes takes the place of the Rooster in the Chinese Zodiac. In the West, it is commonly referred to as the Chinese phoenix and occasionally Ho-Oh bird (from the Japanese name hō-ō).

Le fenghuang (鳳凰 / 凤凰 pinyin : fènghuáng) ou phénix chinois est un oiseau mythique qui règne sur tous les autres oiseaux. On dit qu'il est le plus doux et le plus sage des oiseaux. Les mâles sont appelés feng (鳳) et les femelles huang (凰). Cette distinction des genres est parfois éclipsée pour ne former qu'une seule entité féminine. En effet cet oiseau est souvent associé au dragon (dont il est parfois considéré comme le père) qui est son pendant masculin. Il était d'ailleurs l'emblème personnel de l'impératrice (celui de l'empereur étant le dragon), et apparaissait pour annoncer, comme le qilin, la naissance d'un grand philosophe.

Der Fenghuang (鳳凰) ist in China ein Glückssymbol, der den südlichen Teil des Kaiser-Palastes beschützt.Ähnlich dem Phönix der griechischen und ägyptischen Mythologie wird er mit dem Feuer assoziiert, ist im Grunde aber ein anderes Fabelwesen und darf mit diesem nicht verwechselt werden. Zudem ist er nicht identisch mit dem Roten Vogel, einem Symbol der chinesischen Astrologie, das in Japan auch Suzaku genannt wird.

Fenghuang (chiń. 鳳凰, pinyin: Fènghuáng; jap.: 鳳凰 hōō; kor.: 봉황 bonghwang; wiet.: Phượng Hoàng); w języku polskim: Chiński feniks.Mityczny ptak pochodzący z mitologii chińskiej. Feniksy chińskie były przedstawiane jako władcy wszystkich ptaków. Feniksy rodzaju męskiego nazywano Feng, natomiast żeńskiego Huang. Współcześnie jednak nie czyni się takiego rozróżnienia i wszystkim feniksom przypisuje się rodzaj żeński (Huang), co umożliwia połączenie ich w parę ze smokiem chińskim, będącym rodzaju męskiego. Chińczycy Han często używają terminu Potomkowie Smoka dla określania swej tożsamości narodowej. Fenghuang znany jest też jako "Dostojny Kogut" (鶤雞, pinyin: yùnjī lub kūnjī). W kulturze Zachodu zazwyczaj nazywany jest "Chińskim feniksem", a czasami "Ptakiem Ho-ho" (od japońskiej nazwy hō-ō).

Il Fenghuang (cinese:鳳凰; giapponese: 鳳凰 hō-ō; coreano: 봉황 bonghwang; vietnamita: Phượng Hoàng) è un uccello leggendario della mitologia cinese, avente caratteristiche simili, ma non identiche, alla fenice greca ed egizia. I maschi sarebbero i Feng e le femmine Huang. Oggi questa distinzione non viene più fatta e Feng e Huang sono sono uniti in un'unica entità femminile, spesso accoppiata a quella maschile del drago. Il Fenghuang è a volte chiamato Gallo Augusto, prendendo il posto del gallo nello zodiaco cinese. Nei paesi occidentali l'animale viene chiamato anche fenice cinese.
