Fences (play)
Fences is a play published in 1985 by August Wilson, a Pulitzer Prize-winning American playwright. Set in the 1950s, the play is the sixth in Wilson's ten-part Pittsburgh Cycle. Like all of the Pittsburgh plays, Fences explores the evolving African-American experience and examines race relations, among other themes. The play earned Wilson a Pulitzer Prize and actor James Earl Jones a Tony Award.
