Federal Bureau of Investigation

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) is the primary investigative arm of the United States Department of Justice (DOJ), serving as both a federal criminal investigative body and a domestic intelligence agency. At present, the FBI has investigative jurisdiction over violations of more than 200 categories of federal crimes, making the FBI the de-facto lead law enforcement agency of the United States government. The motto of the bureau is "Fidelity, Bravery, Integrity".

Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI, Federalne Biuro Śledcze) – główna agencja kontrwywiadowcza Stanów Zjednoczonych, badająca przypadki potencjalnego pogwałcenia amerykańskich praw regulujących działalność wywiadowczą przez agentów amerykańskich i obcych oraz służby wywiadowcze państw trzecich. Federalne Biuro Śledcze pełni również rolę policji państwowej, zajmującej się przestępstwami wykraczającymi poza granice danego stanu. Stanowi też część systemu bezpieczeństwa. Jego podstawowym zadaniem jest gromadzenie danych wywiadowczych; władze federalne traktują je raczej jako najważniejszą instytucję zajmującą się wykrywaniem i likwidacją szpiegostwa na terenie USA. Dysponuje rocznym budżetem w wysokości 9,8 miliardów dolarów (2006).

Il Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) è un ente federale degli Stati Uniti d'America preposto alla sicurezza interna, ed il più importante ente di investigazioni ed in genere di polizia della Federazione. A fondarlo fu l'allora ministro di Grazia e Giustizia Charles J. Bonaparte il quale decise di formare - in un'apposita Divisione investigativa - squadre di agenti speciali cui assegnare le indagini sui reati di competenza federale. Riorganizzato nel 1929, sotto la presidenza di Herbert Hoover, assunse l'attuale denominazione solo sei anni dopo, nel 1935.
