February 26 Incident

The was an attempted coup d'État in Japan, on 26-29 February 1936, launched by the radical ultranationalist Kōdō-ha faction of the Imperial Japanese Army. Several leading politicians were killed, and the center of Tokyo was briefly held by the insurgents before the coup was suppressed.
