Fat Wreck Chords is a San Francisco, California based independent record label, focused on punk rock, which was started by Fat Mike (lead singer and bassist of the punk rock band NOFX) and his wife Erin, in 1990.They have released material for bands such as his own, NOFX, Me First and the Gimme Gimmes (for which Fat Mike is also the bassist), Propagandhi, Rise Against, Lagwagon, Strung Out, No Use for a Name, Less Than Jake, Against Me!, Anti-Flag, and more.One somewhat unique and defining characteristic of Fat Wreck Chords is that they only sign one-record deals with bands. This allows the bands working with Fat Wreck Chords to have a choice as to when and if they want to put a record out on the label. In some cases, bands have released albums on Fat Wreck Chords but also on other labels. Many bands on this label participated in the campaign Punkvoter, which was started by Fat Mike and attempted to encourage the youth in the U.S. to vote against George W. Bush in the 2004 U.S. presidential election.

Fat Wreck Chords ist ein Punk-Label aus San Francisco, das vom NOFX-Sänger/Bassist Mike Burkett alias Fat Mike Anfang der 90er Jahre gegründet wurde. Fat Wreck ist, wie auch das befreundete Label Epitaph Records, vor allem für einen bestimmten Stil von Skatepunk bekannt, hat aber auch Ska-Punk- und Hardcore-Bands unter Vertrag. Lagwagon war nach NOFX die erste Band bei Fat, und mit WIZO hatte Fat auch eine deutsche Band. Zwischen 1994 und 2002 erschienen sechs Auflagen der Fat Music-Compilation, ein Pendant zur Punk-O-Rama-Serie von Epitaph Records. Fat Wreck ist auch bekannt für die Aktion Punk Voter, die sich vor den letzten Wahlen in den USA gegen George W. Bush einsetzte und junge Punkmusikhörer in Amerika zum Wählen überreden sollte. Dazu erschien 2004 auch die Rock-Against-Bush-Serie.

Fat Wreck Chords – amerykańska, niezależna wytwórnia muzyczna wydająca głównie płyty zespołów punk rockowych. Założycielem wytwórni jest Fat Mike basista i wokalista grupy NOFX.Zespoły podpisują kontrakt z Fat Wreck tylko na jeden album, stąd nie są na stałe z nią związane i mogą wydawać/nagrywać płyty kiedy tylko mają na to ochotę. Wiele zespołów z tej wytwórni brało udział w kampanii Punkvoter (Punk wyborca), która zachęcała, mobilizowała młodzież amerykańską do głosowania na niekorzyść George W. Busha w wyborach prezydenckich 2004 w USA.
