Faroese language

Faroese (føroyskt [] or []), often also spelled Faeroese, is a West Nordic or West Scandinavian language spoken by 48,000 people in the Faroe Islands and about 12,000 Faroese in Denmark. It is one of three insular Scandinavian languages descended from the Old Norse language spoken in Scandinavia in the Viking Age, the others being Icelandic and the extinct Norn, which is thought to have been mutually intelligible with Faroese.

Färöisch [] (färöisch føroyskt [], dänisch: færøsk, daraus abgeleitet die deutsche Bezeichnung färöisch im Gegensatz zu veraltet färingisch) ist eine westskandinavische Sprache, die von mindestens 44.000 Menschen auf den politisch zu Dänemark gehörenden und weitreichende Autonomierechte besitzenden Färöern sowie weiteren Färingern im Ausland gesprochen wird.

Język farerski – język z grupy skandynawskiej języków germańskich. Posługuje się nim około 48 tys. mieszkańców Wysp Owczych (tzw. Farerów), 25 tys. mieszkańców Danii; łącznie ok. 80 tys. osób. Język farerski najbliższy jest językom norweskim (odmianie norw. - nynorsk) i islandzkiemu.

Il faroese (anche faroico, faroense, faringio o feringio) è una lingua germanica settentrionale parlata da circa 80.000 persone (di cui 48.000 nelle isole Fær Øer, 25.000 in Danimarca e 5.000 in Islanda). È una delle tre lingue insulari scandinave derivate dal norreno parlato in Scandinavia all'epoca dei Vichinghi. Le altre due lingue insulari sono l'islandese e l'estinto norn che, si diceva, fosse mutuamente intellegibile con il faroese.
