Familial adenomatous polyposis
Familial adenomatous polyposis (FAP) is an inherited condition in which numerous polyps form mainly in the epithelium of the large intestine. While these polyps start out benignmalignant transformation into colon cancer occurs when not treated.

Familial polyposis
An inherited condition in which several hundred polyps develop in the colon and rectum.

An inherited condition in which numerous polyps (growths that protrude from mucous membranes) form on the inside walls of the colon and rectum. It increases the risk of colorectal cancer. Also called familial adenomatous polyposis or FAP.
