Falkland Islands

The Falkland Islands () are an archipelago in the South Atlantic Ocean, located 300 miles (483 km) from the coast of  Argentina, 671 miles (1,080 km) west of the  Shag Rocks (South Georgia), and 584 miles (940 km) north of  Antarctica (Elephant Island). They consist of two main islands, East Falkland and West Falkland, together with 776 smaller islands. Stanley, on East Falkland, is the capital city. The islands are a self-governing Overseas Territory of the United Kingdom, but have been the subject of a claim to sovereignty by Argentina since the British invasion of 1833.

Les îles Malouines (Falkland Islands en anglais, Islas Malvinas en espagnol) sont un archipel de l'Atlantique Sud situé à des côtes de l'Argentine et à du nord de l'Antarctique. Elles forment un Territoire britannique d'outre-mer (Overseas Territory of the Falkland Islands). Elles sont revendiquées par l'Argentine et ont été l'enjeu d'un affrontement militaire — la guerre des Malouines — entre les deux pays en 1982. L'archipel est composé de deux îles principales West Falkland et East Falkland, séparées par un large chenal, le détroit des Falkland (Falkland Sound) et plus de 750 îles et îlots. La superficie de l'archipel est de (superficie équivalente à celle de l'Irlande du Nord) pour une population d'environ habitants dont les deux tiers résident dans la capitale Port Stanley.

Die Falklandinseln (auch Malwinen, englisch Falkland Islands, spanisch Islas Malvinas) sind eine Inselgruppe im südlichen Atlantik. Sie gehören geographisch zu Südamerika und liegen 600 bis 800 km östlich von Südargentinien und  Feuerland bei 52° Süd und 59° West. Die Falklandinseln sind ein britisches Überseegebiet. Seit 1833 werden sie von Argentinien beansprucht.

Falklandy (ang. Falkland Islands, hiszp. Islas Malvinas) – terytorium zależne na południowym Atlantyku, około 480 km od wybrzeży Argentyny znajdujące się na wyspach o tej samej nazwie. Znajdują się pod administracją brytyjską, ale prawa do nich rości sobie także Argentyna, z tego powodu czasem również zwane, od nazwy hiszpańskiej, Malwinami.

Le Isole Falkland (in inglese: Falkland Islands), sono un territorio d'oltremare del Regno Unito, la cui sovranità è disputata dall'Argentina, per la quale sono le Isole Malvine (in spagnolo: Islas Malvinas).Il Regno Unito ne rivendica la sovranità in quanto nel 1833 vi aveva edificato una base navale e nel 1837 un ufficio di amministrazione coloniale. Le isole sono contese dall'Argentina, che le considera ancora oggi parti integranti del suo territorio nazionale.La capitale delle Falkland è Port Stanley, chiamata anche Puerto Argentino per l'Argentina.
