FRAME RATE

frequency at which the pictures in a film are displayed, speed of the display of frames

Frame rate, or frame frequency, is the measurement of the frequency (rate) at which an imaging device produces unique consecutive images called frames. The term applies equally well to computer graphics, video cameras, film cameras, and motion capture systems. Frame rate is most often expressed in frames per second (fps), or simply hertz (Hz).

<graphics> The number of frames of an animation which are displayed every second, measured in frames per second (fps). The higher the frame rate, the smoother the animation will appear but the more processing power and system bandwidth is required.
At less than 30 fps, the human eye can see the new pictures coming onto the screen.
