Fas (APO-1, CD95) est une
protéine transmembranaire appartenant à la famille du récepteur du
TNF, pouvant médier la mort par
apoptose de cellules transformées mais aussi de
lymphocytes T humaines activées. Le signal de mort cellulaire peut être induit par des anticorps anti-Fas ou par le ligant de Fas noté Fas-L , appartenant à la famille du
TNF. L'expression
in vivo de ces deux molécules Fas et Fas-L est différemment régulée puisque Fas est constitutivement exprimée dans différents tissus tels que le
foie, le
thymus et le
rein et dans les
lymphocytes T humains récemment activés, alors que le ligand de Fas n'est pas exprimé de façon constitutive mais peut être induit après activation de
lymphocytes T via le récepteur pour l'
antigène .
