Executable and Linkable Format
In computing, the Executable and Linking Format (ELF, formerly called Extensible Linking Format) is a common standard file format for executablesobject codeshared libraries, and core dumps. First published in the  System V Application Binary Interface specification, and later in the Tool Interface Standard, it was quickly accepted among different vendors of Unix systems. In 1999 it was chosen as the standard binary file format for Unix and Unix-like systems by the 86open project.

Executable and Linking Format
ELF est un format de fichier informatique binaire utilisé pour l'enregistrement de code compilé (objets, exécutables, bibliothèques de fonctions). Il a été développé par l’USL pour remplacer les anciens formats a.out (voir ) et COFF (, voir ), qui avaient atteint leurs limites. Aujourd'hui, ce format est utilisé dans la plupart des systèmes d'exploitation Unix (LinuxSolarisIrixSystem VBSD), à l'exception de Mac OS X.
