Ewa (district)

For the town in Hawaii, see ‘Ewa. Ewa is a district in the country of Nauru, located in the north of island. It covers an area of 1.2 km² and has a population of 300. Ewa is part of the Anetan constituency.Kayser College, a technical school and the only institution of higher learning in Nauru, is located in Ewa. The college is named after German missionary Alois Kayser who lived on the island for forty years.

Ewa ist ein Distrikt auf dem Inselstaat Nauru, der sich im Norden der Insel befindet. Hier befindet sich der nördlichste Punkt der Insel, Kap Anna. Auf dem Gebiet Ewas liegt Arubo, benannt nach dem früheren Namen eines dortigen Landstücks. Friedrich Gründl, der erste katholische Priester auf Nauru, ließ sich Ende 1902 in Arubo nieder und ließ eine katholische Grundschule und eine katholische Kirche bauen. Die damalige Grundschule ist heute die größte Privatschule in Nauru, das katholische Kayser College. Zudem ist in Ewa der Sitz des größten nauruischen Privatunternehmens, Capelle & Partner.

Ewa is een district in Nauru, een eilandstaatje in Oceanië. Het district heeft een totale oppervlakte van 1,2 km² en telde 319 inwoners op 1 januari 2006.Oorspronkelijk was het district een gouw bestaande uit 12 afzonderlijke dorpen. In 1968 is besloten de naam Arubo als plaatsnaam te gebruiken voor alle dorpen samen, dit omdat de meeste kernen aaneengegroeid waren.
