Ethiopie
Ethiopie ist ein französischer Benefizsong für Afrika, aufgenommen wurde er 1985 von der aus zahlreichen bekannten französischen Musikern bestehenden Band Chanteurs Sans Frontières, Initiator des Projektes war Renaud. Nachdem bereits Großbritannien mit Band Aid (Do They Know It's Christmas?), die USA mit USA for Africa (We Are The World) und Deutschland mit der Band für Afrika (Nackt Im Wind) ähnliche Projekte gestartet hatten, wollten nun auch die Franzosen mittels eines Songs Geld für Afrika, in diesem Fall speziell für die Nichtregierungsorganisation Ärzte ohne Grenzen (im Französischen Médecins sans frontières, daher auch der Bandname) sammeln.

Éthiopie
L'Éthiopie, officiellement la République démocratique fédérale d’Éthiopie (Ge'ez: የኢትዮጵያ ፈደራላዊ ዲሞክራሲያዊ ሪፐብሊክ), est un pays situé dans la Corne de l'Afrique, qui a été privé de son accès à la mer suite à l’indépendance de l’Érythrée en 1993. L’Éthiopie partage des frontières communes avec l’Érythrée, correspondant à sa zone colonisée par l’Italie au nord, le Soudan à l’ouest, le Kenya au sud, Djibouti au nord-est et la Somalie à l’est.

Ethiopië
| Ethiopië, formeel de Federale Democratische Republiek Ethiopië, is een land in Oost-Afrika. Het grenst aan Eritrea, Djibouti, Somalië, Kenia en Soedan. De hoofdstad, Addis Abeba, is centraal gelegen en is omgeven door een uitgestrekt en vruchtbaar hooggebergte.
Ethiopië is het land waar de Blauwe Nijl ontspringt (in het Tana-meer), die samen met de Witte Nijl en de eveneens in Ethiopië ontspringende Tekeze-rivier de Nijl vormt. Het heeft een zeer jonge en explosief groeiende bevolking, dit ondanks de recente hongersnoden.
De laatste keizer van Ethiopië was (de facto) Haile Selassie. Na zijn afzetting werd het land geregeerd door het bewind van de marxistische dictator Mengistu Haile Mariam. Na een burgeroorlog nam de Tigrische Meles Zenawi de macht over. Onder de regeringen Zenawi heeft Ethiopië onafhankelijkheid verleend aan het voorheen bezette en eenzijdig geannexeerde Eritrea, en is Ethiopië omgevormd tot een federatie.
