Estay was one of the main players of the chilean team that played in Chile 1987 U-20 World Cup. Immediately after his performance in U-20 WC, Universidad Católica put him in their squad for four seasons. Estay is member of the exclusive club of those who has dressed the t-shirt of the three great clubs of Chile. With Toluca he become one of the main foreign figures of Aztec soccer. He moved to America for 3 millions of dollars, after he requested Toluca's president to sold him. France 1998 World Cup marked his return to the national team, where he has appeared constantly from principles of this decade.
