Esau (Hebrew , Standard Hebrew Esav, Tiberian Hebrew ) is the oldest son of Isaac and Rebekah and the older brother of Jacob in the biblical Book of Genesis.. The Bible depicts Esau as a hunter who prefers the outdoor life, qualities that distinguished him from his brother. Esau is also considered to be the ancestor of the Edomites..
