Epitaph Records is a Hollywood, California based independent record label owned by Bad Religion guitarist Brett Gurewitz. The label was originally "just a logo and a P.O. box" created in the 1980s for the purpose of selling Bad Religion records, but has evolved into a large independent record label. Gurewitz took the name from a King Crimson song of the same name. Throughout the 80s and 90s most of the bands on Epitaph were punk and pop punk groups, while there are many post-hardcore and emo bands signed to the label too. A large portion of the record label, known as Hellcat Records, is owned by Tim Armstrong, frontman of the punk rock band Rancid. Several sister-labels also exist, such as ANTI-, Burning Heart Records, Fat Possum Records, Hellcat Records and Heart & Skull Records that have signed other types of bands.

Zu Epitaph gehören auch die Unter-Labels ANTI-Records und Hellcat Records. Außerdem war Epitaph für den Vertrieb des Blueslabels Fat Possum Records zuständig und besitzt 51 % des schwedischen Labels Burning Heart Records.

Epitaph est un label indépendant de musique, fondé durant les années 80 par le guitariste de Bad Religion, Brett Gurewitz. Ce label, qui n'était au début qu'un logo ainsi qu'une boîte aux lettres a depuis revélé des groupes majeurs de la scène punk-hardcore américaine, tels que The Offspring, Rancid ou encore NOFX. Actuellement, le label compte dans ses rangs quelques uns des fleurons de la scène punk/hardcore internationale, tels Converge, The Dillinger Escape Plan, Dropkick Murphys, Pennywise ou bien encore les suédois de  Refused et Millencolin.

Epitaph Records jest wytwórnią płytową, położoną w Los Angeles w stanie Kalifornia w Stanach Zjednoczonych. Jej właścicielem jest gitarzysta zespołu Bad Religion, Brett Gurewitz. Na samym początku, tuż po założeniu w roku 1980, cała firma składała się "z loga i skrytki pocztowej". Sam Brett wspominał w wywiadach, że Epitaph miało jedynie wydawać płyty jego rodzimego zespołu - Bad Religion. Wytwórnia szybko jednak ewoluowała do dużego, niezależnego wydawnictwa. Sama nazwa Epitaph jest nawiązaniem do tytułu piosenki King Crimson. W latach 80 i 90 wytwórnia ta była czołowym wydawcą muzyki punkrockowej. Obecnie skupia się bardziej na zespołach, które tworzą w nurcie rocka alternatywnego. Z Epitaph powstało także wiele pomniejszych wytwórni, takich jak na przykład ANTI-, Fat Possum Records, Burning Heart Records czy Hellcat Records. Skupiają one zespoły, które przynależą do określonego gatunku muzycznego.
