English opening

In chess, the English Opening is the opening where White plays 1.c4. A flank opening, it is the fourth most popular opening.[1] White begins the fight for the center by staking a claim to the d5 square. Although many lines of the English have a distinct character, it often transposes into other openings and is considered flexible.

La partie anglaise est une ouverture au jeu d'échecs ; elle débute par le coup 1. c4. Par ce coup, les Blancs contrôlent le centre (la case d5). Si les Noirs jouent à un moment ...d5, les Blancs pourront répondre c4 x d5 et ouvrir ainsi la colonne c à leur avantage. Dans l'Anglaise, les possibilités pour les deux camps sont très vastes puisqu'il n'y a souvent pas de confrontation directe. Les Blancs joueront souvent leur Fou du Roi en fianchetto avec une stratégie de contrôle des cases blanches. Les Noirs disposent d'une très large marge de manoeuvre pour répondre à 1) c4, et de nombreux coups ont été tentés, y compris 1...g5.

Jahrhundert vielfach praktizierte und sich große Verdienste um ihre theoretische Durchdringung erworben hat. Englisch ist eine ungemein flexible Eröffnung, in der man oft in viele andere Eröffnungssysteme übergehen kann; so ist vom Damengambit über die Indische Verteidigung bis hin zu Sizilianisch vieles möglich. Kein anderes Eröffnungssystem bietet solch eine Vielfalt an Möglichkeiten.

Partia angielska to otwarcie szachowe zaczynające się od posunięcia 1.c4. Należy do grupy debiutów zamkniętych. Jest to popularny debiut, grywany przez wielu mistrzów świata: Botwinnika, Smysłowa, Petrosjana, Spasskiego, Karpowa. Partia angielska odegrała wielką rolę w meczu o mistrzostwo świata Kasparow-Karpow w Sewilli w 1987. Obecnie partię angielską z zawodników światowej czołówki gra z sukcesami m.in. Władimir Kramnik (z przestawieniem kolejności posunięć - zaczyna od 1. Sf3, dopiero następnie grywa c4).

La mossa:1. c4 dà il via alla cosiddetta Partita Inglese, un'apertura del gioco degli scacchi. Essa prende il nome dall'inglese campione mondiale (ufficioso) Howard Staunton che la giocò nel 1843 ma rimase poco giocata fino al XX secolo. Grandi campioni come Anatolij Karpov, Garry Kasparov e Mikhail Botvinnik possiedono nel proprio repertorio - e hanno già giocato ad alti livelli - questo tipo di apertura.
