English language

English is a West Germanic language originating in England, and the first language for most people in Australia, Canada, the Commonwealth Caribbean, Ireland, New Zealand, the United Kingdom and the United States of America (also commonly known as the Anglosphere). It is used extensively as a second language and as an official language throughout the world, especially in Commonwealth countries and in many international organisations.

L’anglais (English en anglais, prononcé: /ˈɪŋɡlɪʃ/) est une langue germanique originaire d'Angleterre. C'est la langue maternelle ou l'une des langues des habitants de plusieurs pays, surtout du Royaume-Uni et de ses anciennes colonies, dont les États-Unis, l'Afrique du Sud, l'Irlande, le Canada, l'Australie, la Nouvelle-Zélande et l'Inde (collectivement : le monde anglo-saxon). L'anglais est l'une des langues les plus parlées au monde : en nombre de locuteurs natifs, les estimations varient de 2 , après le chinois (mandarin), à 4 , après l'espagnol et/ou le hindi. Considérée par beaucoup comme la « langue internationale », elle est sans contredit la seconde langue la plus apprise et étudiée à travers le monde. Elle est la langue la plus utilisée sur internet. Elle est une des six langues officielles et une des deux langues de travail — avec le français — de l'Organisation des Nations Unies (ONU).

Sie gehört, wie auch das Deutsche und das Niederländische, dem westlichen Zweig der germanischen Sprachen an.Englisch ist heute die am weitesten verbreitete Sprache der Welt, während es sich bei Hochchinesisch um die meistgesprochene Muttersprache handelt. Die englische Sprache wird in sehr vielen Ländern als erste Fremdsprache in den Schulen gelehrt (siehe Englischunterricht) und ist offizielle Sprache der meisten internationalen Organisationen. Viele dieser Organisationen haben daneben noch andere offizielle Sprachen. Englisch gilt als Weltsprache.

Język angielski (ang. the English language [] ) - język urzędowy na terytoriach zależnych Wielkiej Brytanii, oraz w większości jej byłych kolonii i dominiów, m.in. Irlandii, Kanadzie, RPA, Australii i Nowej Zelandii. W samej Wielkiej Brytanii angielski jest de facto językiem urzędowym, jednak formalnie państwo to nie posiada żadnego oficjalnie ustalonego języka urzędowego. Podobna sytuacja jest też w Stanach Zjednoczonych. Angielski należy do oficjalnych języków ONZ, a od XX wieku jest najczęściej używanym językiem w kontaktach międzynarodowych. Niekiedy określany jako pierwszy uniwersalny język ludzkości.

L'inglese (nome nativo English, IPA: ) è una lingua indoeuropea appartenente al ramo occidentale delle lingue germaniche, assieme all'olandese, all'alto e basso tedesco, al fiammingo e al frisone. Conserva ancora un'evidente parentela col sassone continentale (dialetto del basso tedesco).L'inglese occupa una posizione del tutto particolare, non solo rispetto alle lingue germaniche, ma anche all'interno del gruppo linguistico indoeuropeo: ha talmente semplificato e alterato la propria struttura da avvicinarsi ormai più a una lingua isolante piuttosto che ad una lingua flessiva. Dal punto di vista del vocabolario, inoltre, contiene più termini di origine non-germanica (specialmente latina) che germanica, ed è verosimilmente la lingua più aperta all'ingresso di nuovi termini da altre lingue.
