Elongation

Elongation is an astronomical term that refers to the angle between the Sun and a planet, as viewed from Earth.When an inferior planet is visible after sunset, it is near its greatest eastern elongation. When an inferior planet is visible before sunrise, it is near its greatest western elongation. The value of the greatest elongation (west or east), for Mercury, is between 18° and 28°; and for Venus between 45° and 47°. This value varies because the orbits of the planets are elliptical, rather than perfect circles.

L’élongation est un terme qui désigne généralement un état de plasticité ou d’élasticité de la membrane primaire. Les phytohormones, comme les auxines et les gibbérellines, peuvent agir sur les propriétés membranaires, en provoquant un relâchement. In der Astronomie bezeichnet der Begriff Elongation den von einem Beobachter (im allgemeinen der Erde) aus gesehenen Winkelabstand eines Planeten oder sonstigen Himmelsobjektes von der Sonne. Die Elongation wird westlich bzw. östlich der Sonne jeweils von 0° bis 180° gemessen. Westliche Elongation bedeutet, das Objekt geht vor der Sonne auf und kann am Morgenhimmel gesehen werden; bei östlicher Elongation geht es nach der Sonne unter und kann am Abendhimmel beobachtet werden.

Elongacja, dygresja ciała niebieskiego, odchylenie - jest to w przybliżeniu odległość kątowa pomiędzy środkiem tarczy Słońca a planetą na sferze niebieskiej. W praktyce jest to różnica długości ekliptycznych Słońca i planety. Można też określić ją jako przejście ciała niebieskiego przez punkt styczności równoleżnika niebieskiego z wertykałem.

Significato astronomico L'elongazione è l'angolo che un pianeta forma con il Sole, dal punto di vista della Terra. Nel caso di un pianeta interno (Venere o Mercurio) durante il suo moto di rivoluzione attorno al sole, quest'angolo presenterà due valori massimi (necessariamente minori di un angolo retto), uno verso est e l'altro verso ovest (vedi figura).In tali istanti si dice che il pianeta interno si trova in posizione di elongazione massima, rispettivamente orientale ed occidentale.
