Ella Cora Hind (18 September1861 – 6 October1942) was Western Canada's first female journalist and a women's rights activist.Born in Toronto, she moved to Winnipeg in 1882 where she was unable to get a job with the Free Press. She decided to work as a stenographer, but continued to write and submit articles she had written on agriculture to the newspaper. Finally, in 1901, 19 years after she had arrived in Winnipeg, she was offered a job as the Free Press agricultural editor.
