Electron microscopy (EM)

A microscope in which electron beams replaceslight rays to form the image. EM has its pluses (greater magnification and resolution than optical microscopes) and minuses (you are not really "seeing" objects, but rather their electron densities, and artefacts often abound). Despite such limitations, EM has greatly extended the powers of the microscope.
