Electorate of Saxony
The Electorate of Saxony or Duchy of Upper Saxony was an independent hereditary electorate of the Holy Roman Empire from 1356–1806. It was the successor state of the Duchy of Saxe-Wittenberg and was itself replaced in Napoleonic times by the Kingdom of Saxony (1806).

Курфюршество Саксония существовало с 1356 по 1806.Оно было частью Священной римской империи. 1356 Рудольф I получил от императора Карла IV сан курфюрста.1806 курфюрст Фридрих Август III  французским императором Наполеоном был объявлен королём Саксонии. Этим Саксония стала королевством.
