oraz terytorium zależne Reunion. Czasem do Afryki Wschodniej zalicza się też Mozambik i Sudan. Z drugiej strony termin ten bywa też niekiedy stosowany jedynie na określenie państw położonych wokół Jeziora Wiktorii, a więc Kenii, Tanzanii, Ugandy, czasem też Rwandy i Burundi.
