Earnest Stewart

Earnie Stewart (born March 28, 1969 in Veghel, Netherlands) is an American soccer player who was a regular midfielder for the U.S. national team from 1990s until his retirement in 2005.Stewart, the son of African American soldier Earnie Stewart and his Dutch wife Annemien Stewart, grew up in the Netherlands, and began his professional career in that country in 1988 with VVV. He spent two years at the Dutch First Division (second-level) club before moving to fellow First Division side Willem II in 1990. By the end of 1990, he made his first appearance for the U.S. national team against Portugal.

Earnest Stewart (Veghel, 28 maart 1969) is een in Nederland geboren voormalig voetballer met de Amerikaanse nationaliteit.Stewart begon in 1988 bij VVV aan zijn carrière als voetballer. Na 2 seizoenen bij VVV vertrok hij in 1990 naar Willem II, alwaar de middenvelder/aanvaller liefs 6 seizoenen zou blijven. In 1996 vertrok hij naar NAC Breda, alwaar hij 7 jaar zou blijven en altijd op een basisplaats kon rekenen. In 2003 vertrok hij naar Amerika, om 2 jaar bij DC United te voetballen. Stewart sloot zijn actieve loopbaan af bij de club waar hij begon, VVV. Na 6 wedstrijden in het seizoen 2004/2005 stopte hij na ruim 450 wedstrijden en meer dan 100 doelpunten. Stewart kwam tevens uit voor het Amerikaans voetbalelftal.
