ELF

An elf is a creature of Germanic mythology which still survives in northern Europe. The elves were originally a race of minor nature and fertility gods, who are often pictured as youthful-seeming men and women of great beauty living in forests and underground places and caves, or in wells and springs. They have been portrayed to be long-lived or immortal and as beings of magical powers. Following J. R. R. Tolkien's influential The Lord of the Rings—in which a wise, angelic (and human-sized) people named Elves have a significant role—elves became staple characters of modern fantasy (see Elves in fantasy fiction and games).

Elfen (auch Alben, Elben) ist eine Bezeichnung für eine sehr heterogene Gruppe von Fabelwesen in Mythologie und Literatur.Elfen sind Lichtgestalten oder Naturgeister, die ursprünglich aus der nordischen Mythologie stammen. Altnordisch heißen sie álfr, ahd. alb, altengl. ælf, dänisch elve (verwandt mit lateinisch albus, weiß); die deutsche Entsprechung ist eigentlich Alben (Singular: der Alb) oder Elben (Singular: die Elbe), diese wurden in jüngster Zeit jedoch weitgehend von der englischen Form Elfen verdrängt.

Elf - stworzenie rodem z mitologii germańskiej i skandynawskiej. Z początku elfy były pomniejszymi bożkami natury i płodności, później były przedstawiane jako chochliki lub duszki leśne bądź wodne. W folklorze przedstawiane są jako małe, wyglądające młodzieńczo ludziki wielkiej piękności, żyjące w lasach, źródłach, studniach, a nawet pod ziemią. Wierzono, że są długowieczne, jeśli nie nieśmiertelne i posiadają różnorakie magiczne moce.

L'elfo (probabilmente dal norreno alf[a]r) è uno spirito genio della mitologia norrena e non solo. Gli elfi sono simboli delle forze dell'aria, del fuoco, della terra e dei fenomeni atmosferici in generale.Essi sono spiriti simili agli umani, alti e magri ma forti e velocissimi, volto pulito, sereno, orecchie leggermente a punta. Sono descritti con una grande vista e un udito molto sensibile. Non hanno barba, hanno occhi che penetrano la persona fino a conoscere i pensieri, si dice che siano dotati di telepatia.
