Ecosphere has several different meanings:

• In ecology the term ecosphere can refer to the Earth's spheres, a planetary ecosystem consisting of the atmosphere, the geosphere (lithosphere), the hydrosphere, and the biosphere.
• In astronomy an ecosphere is an imaginary shell of space surrounding stars where conditions are such that life might survive. See habitable zone.
• Ecosphere (aquarium) is a water filled sealed glass ball containing living algae and shrimp in a stable miniature ecosystem.

Ecosphere ist der Markenname für ein spezielles Aquarium, dessen Bewohner, in einer Glaskugel eingeschlossen, ohne äußere Eingriffe über mehrere Jahre lebensfähig sind. Dieses stellt ein vereinfachtes, künstliches „Ökosystem“ dar. Ecosphere ist das englische Wort für Ökosphäre.

L’écosphère désigne un système naturel dans lequel plusieurs niveaux interagissent les uns avec les autres : la matière, l'énergie et les êtres vivants. Le terme a été créé par l'écologiste américain Lamont Cole.

La ecósfera es la zona potencialmente apta para la generación y existencia de vida en un sistema planetario. Se llama ecósfera a una envoltura teórica alrededor de la estrella en la que un planeta no tendría una temperatura ni demasiado elevada ni demasiado baja para la existencia de vida como la de la Tierra.
