Dynamo
A dynamo (from the Greek word dynamis; meaning power), originally another name for an electrical generator, generally means a generator that produces direct current with the use of a commutator. Dynamos were the first electrical generators capable of delivering power for industry, and the foundation upon which many other later electric-power conversion devices were based, including the electric motor, the alternating-current alternator, and the rotary converter. Today, the simpler alternator dominates large scale power generation, for efficiency, reliability and cost reasons. A dynamo has the disadvantages of a mechanical commutator. Also, converting alternating to direct current using power rectification devices (hollow state or more recently solid state) is effective and usually economic.

Dynamo
Der Ausdruck Dynamo bezeichnet:
- im allgemeinen einen elektrischen Generator
- im speziellen den Fahrraddynamo
- ehemalige Bezeichnung des Sportverbandes der Sicherheitsorgane in der Sowjetunion und deren Satellitenstaaten (z. B. Sportvereinigung Dynamo), teilweise noch heute in den Namen ehemaliger Mitgliedsvereine zu finden (SG Dynamo Dresden, BFC Dynamo, Dynamo Kiew, Dynamo Minsk, Dynamo Moskau, Dinamo Bukarest, Dinamo Tiflis, Dinamo Zagreb) bzw. in deren Anlehnung verwendet (Houston Dynamo)
- verschiedene Sportstadien, siehe Dinamo-Stadion
- eine Klettertechnik, siehe Dynamo (Klettertechnik)
- ein Open Air Festival in den Niederlanden, siehe Dynamo Open Air
- in der Geo- und Astrophysik einen magnetohydrodynamischen Dynamo

Dynamo
Abréviation de machine dynamoélectrique, dynamo désigne une machine à courant continu fonctionnant en générateur électrique. Elle a été inventée en 1869 par le Belge Zénobe Gramme. La dynamo repose sur un principe physique : le magnétisme.

Pradnica
