Dutch language

Dutch is a West Germanic language spoken by around 23 million people, mainly in the Netherlands, Belgium and Suriname, but also by smaller groups of speakers in parts of France, Germany and several former Dutch colonies. It is closely related to other West Germanic languages (ie. English, Frisian and German) and somewhat more remote to the North Germanic languages. Dutch is a descendant of Old Frankish and is the parent language of Afrikaans, one of the official languages of South Africa and the most widely understood in Namibia. Dutch and Afrikaans are to a large extent mutually intelligible, although they have separate spelling standards and dictionaries and have separate language regulators. Standard Dutch (Standaard Nederlands) is the standard language of the major Dutch speaking-areas and is regulated by the Nederlandse Taalunie ("Dutch Language Union").

Le néerlandais est une langue germanique principalement parlée aux Pays-Bas, en Belgique (en Flandre) et au Surinam. Le terme néerlandais dérive des mots neder land, littéralement « bas pays ». Nederlands qualifie l'origine géographique néerlandaise ou désigne la langue parlée dans cette région. Pour désigner un Néerlandais, on dira plutôt Nederlander, mais Nederlandse pour une Néerlandaise.

Die niederländische Sprache (Nederlandse taal), auch Niederländisch (Aussprache: Nederlands), gehört wie die hochdeutsche Sprache zum germanischen bzw. westgermanischen Zweig der indogermanischen Sprachen. Obwohl Hochdeutsch und Niederländisch seit dem 7. Jahrhundert schon eine andere Geschichte haben, sind die beiden Sprachen immer noch als Schwestersprachen zu betrachten. Von den Amtssprachen der Europäischen Union steht Niederländisch dem Hochdeutschen aufgrund dieser teilweise gemeinsamen Sprachgeschichte am nächsten.

Język niderlandzki (holenderski) - Język indoeuropejski z grupy języków germańskich zaliczany do języków dolnoniemieckich. Pytanie o to, gdzie używa się języka niderlandzkiego, wywołuje szereg problemów. Dotyczą one nie tylko określenia obszaru, na jakim mówi się tym językiem, lecz także samej jego nazwy. Przykładowo po angielsku mówi się o języku niderlandzkim Dutch, ale niekiedy też Netherlandic czy Netherlandish. Z drugiej strony, język standardowy we Flandrii, północnej części Belgii, bywa czasem nazywany Flemish, choć jest to ten sam język standardowy, co w Holandii. Nawet w niderlandzkim używa się równolegle kilku określeń mających to samo znaczenie: Nederlands, Hollands (nieprawidłowo) i Vlaams.

La lingua nederlandese o neerlandese, nome nativo Nederlands (IPA: /nts/), è una delle lingue ufficiali dei Paesi Bassi (insieme al frisone) e del Belgio (insieme alla lingua francese e al tedesco), dove viene generalmente definita fiammingo (Vlaams) ed è ufficiale nelle Fiandre e nella Regione di Bruxelles-Capitale. È anche parlata nelle Fiandre francesi.
