It is bordered to the north by the North Sea, Denmark, and the Baltic Sea; to the east by Poland and the Czech Republic; to the south by Austria and Switzerland; and to the west by France, Luxembourg, Belgium, and the Netherlands.

Die Bundesrepublik Deutschland ist Gründungsmitglied der Europäischen Union und mit über 82 Millionen Einwohnern deren bevölkerungsreichster Staat, ferner unter anderem Mitglied der Vereinten Nationen, der OECD, der NATO, der OSZE und der Gruppe der Acht (G8). Gemessen am Bruttoinlandsprodukt ist Deutschland die drittgrößte Volkswirtschaft der Welt.

Niemcy (Republika Federalna Niemiec, RFN, niem.: Deutschland lub Bundesrepublik Deutschland, BRD) – państwo federacyjne położone w Europie Środkowej, będące członkiem Unii Europejskiej, Unii Zachodnioeuropejskiej (UZE), G8 oraz NATO. Do 1970 (do traktatu między RFN a Polską) w Polsce stosowana była oficjalnie nazwa Niemiecka Republika Federalna (NRF). Niemcy mają dostęp do Morza Bałtyckiego i Morza Północnego. Stolica to Berlin (przed przyłączeniem NRD – Bonn, obecnie noszące tytuł miasta federalnego).

La Repubblica Federale di Germania (in tedesco: Bundesrepublik Deutschland), abbreviata spesso in Germania, è uno stato dell'Europa occidentale. A nord confina con la Danimarca ed è bagnata dal Mare del Nord e dal Mar Baltico, ad est confina con la Polonia e la Repubblica Ceca, a sud con  Austria e Svizzera, e ad ovest con Francia, Lussemburgo, Belgio e Paesi Bassi.La Germania è uno dei membri fondatori dell'Unione Europea. Partecipa inoltre dal 1995 agli accordi di Schengen.
