Dublin
Dublin (, or ) (, ) is the largest city in
Ireland and the capital of the
Republic of Ireland. It is located near the midpoint of Ireland's east coast, at the mouth of the
River Liffey and at the centre of the
Dublin Region. Founded as a
Viking settlement, the city has been Ireland's primary city for most of the island's history since
medieval times. Today, it is an economic, administrative and cultural centre for the island of
Ireland, and has one of the fastest growing populations of any European capital city.

irl. An Life) do Zatoki Dublińskiej. Rzeka dzieli miasto na dwie dzielnice o zdecydowanie odmiennym charakterze: North Side oraz nowocześniejszą i bardziej zamożną South Side. Główny ośrodek administracyjny, kulturalny, ekonomiczny i przemysłowy kraju (przemysł samochodowy, stoczniowy, włókienniczy, odzieżowy, metalowy, elektrotechniczny, spożywczy (słynny
browar Guinnessa), poligraficzny, chemiczny, szklarski, papierniczy). Port morski połączony kanałami z rzeką

gaelico Baile Átha Cliath, che significa "città del guado fortificato", o semplicemente Áth Cliath, o meno correttamente Dubh Linn che significa "stagno nero" ) è la capitale della
Repubblica d'Irlanda, oltre che la città più grande e popolata, non solo della Repubblica, ma di tutta l'
isola d'Irlanda. Gli abitanti sono, infatti, 505.739 (censimento del 2006) che, se si considera l'area metropolitana, raggiungono e superano il milione. La città è in continua espansione urbanistica ed economica da qualche decennio e contribuisce al
PIL della Repubblica con 60 miliardi di
Euro.
