Down to Earth was a 1947 film starring
Rita Hayworth and
Larry Parks. It is a semi-sequel to the 1941 film
Here Comes Mr. Jordan. Hayworth plays the goddess
Terpsichore, who appears on Earth as a showgirl, with powers granted to her by heavenly messenger Mr. Jordan. She attempts to "correct" a musical about goddesses being produced by producer Danny Miller (
Larry Parks). Terpsichore thinks it is demeaning and insulting to the true muses of the arts. Terpsichore uses the name Kitty Pendleton and quickly gets an agent, Max Corkle (James Gleason, reprising his role from Here Comes Mr. Jordan). As the play is being rehearsed, Kitty takes every chance she gets to tell producer Miller that his depictions of the muses are wrong, and he gradually comes to agree with her.
