Doom (video game)
Doom (typeset as DOOM in official documents) is a 1993 first-person shooter video game by id Software. It is widely recognized for having popularized the first-person shooter genre, pioneering immersive 3D graphics, networked multiplayer gaming, and support for customized additions and modifications via packaged files in a data archive known as "WADs". Its graphic and interactive violence, as well as its Satanic imagery, also made it the subject of considerable controversy. In Doom, players assume the role of a space marine, popularily known as "Doomguy", who must fight his way through a military base on Mars' moon, Phobos, and kill the demons from Hell.

Doom, ou DOOM, signifiant littéralement destin funeste ou damnation, est un jeu vidéo de tir subjectif développé et édité par id Software, sorti le , et connu pour être l’un des titres majeurs qui ont lancé ce type de jeu vidéo. Il est reconnu comme étant le pionnier des graphismes en trois dimensions immersifs, du jeu multijoueur en réseau, et d’avoir permis aux joueurs de créer leurs propres contenus. Distribué comme partagiciel, Doom a été téléchargé par approximativement 10 millions de personnes en une année, popularisant ainsi un type de et engendrant une sous-culture ; et pour signe de son influence sur l’industrie du jeu vidéo, les jeux de tir subjectif du milieu des années 1990 sont plus connus sous l’appellation ou . Ses graphismes et sa violence interactive ont aussi fait de Doom le sujet de beaucoup de polémiques dépassant le milieu du jeu vidéo. Selon GameSpy, Doom a été élu, par un panel de professionnels du jeu vidéo, meilleur jeu de tous les temps.

Doom
Doom (wymowa IPA: , ang. fatum, przeznaczenie, zły los) - trzecia w kolejności po Wolfensteinie 3D gra komputerowa z gatunku FPS, napisana przez programistów firmy id Software.
Mimo że powstała w 1993 roku, nadal ma swoich zwolenników. W owym czasie była jedną z nielicznych gier pozwalających na komputerach z procesorem 80386, 4 MB pamięci RAM i kartą graficzną VGA osiągać realistyczne efekty i dynamicznie poruszać się bohaterem w trzech wymiarach, gdy w jej poprzedniczce dostępna była jedynie nawigacja postacią w płaszczyźnie poziomej. Wprowadziła na stałe do gatunku FPS rozgrywki multiplayer typu deathmatch.
