Dominant seventh

Septakkorde sind Vierklänge, welche wie die Dreiklänge aus Terzen aufgeschichtet werden. Zusätzlich zum Grundton, Terzton und Quintton des Dreiklanges kommt noch ein Septimton hinzu.

Un accordo di settima è un accordo costituito dalla sovrapposizione di quattro suoni, ciascuno distante una terza dal precedente. Ne risulta che le tre note successive alla nota fondamentale saranno ad un intervallo rispettivamente di terza, quinta e settima da detta nota. A seconda della qualità di questi intervalli, si distinguono cinque specie di accordi di settima.

A chord that consists of the intervals major third, minor third and minor third from the bottom to the top. It is easily obtained from a diminished seventh chord, which only contains minor thirds, by lowering any of the notes by a semitone.
