Dominant-negative mutation
A (heterozygous) dominant mutation on one allele blocking the activity of wild-type protein still encoded by the normal allele causing a loss-of-function phenotype. The phenotype is indistinguishable from that of homozygous dominant mutation. p53 mutations may act as dominant-negative (see also haplo-insufficiency).
