Dobson Units (DU)

is the standard way to express ozone amounts. Ozone varies with latitude and season, typically ranging from about 250 to 460 Dobson units. Dobson was a researcher at Oxford University who, in the late 1920s, built the first instrument, now called the Dobson meter, for measuring total ozone from the ground.
