Districts of England

The districts of England are a level of subnational division of England used for the purposes of local government. As the structure of local government in England is not uniform, there are currently four types of district level subdivision.Some districts are styled as boroughs, cities, or royal boroughs. These are purely honorific titles, and do not alter the status of the district.All Boroughs and Cities, and a very few Districts, are led by a Mayor who in most cases is a ceremonial figure elected by the Council, but - after the most recent local government reform - is occasionally a directly elected mayor who takes most of the policy decisions instead of the Council.

Die Liste führt alle District bzw. Unitary Authorithies Englands in alphabetischer Reihenfolge auf. Zu jedem District wird die Einwohnerzahl, der Status bzw. die Bezeichnung und die zugehörige County genannt. Bei den Unitary Authorities wird die Grafschaft (county) genannt, zu der das Gebiet früher verwaltungstechnisch gehörte. Die Unitary Authorities, die man mit kreisfreien Städten in Deutschland vergleichen kann, gehören diesen counties nur noch für zeremonielle Zwecke an. Das heißt, dass die Königin in diesem Gebiet vom selben Lord Lieutenant vertreten wird.

I Distretti d'Inghilterra sono un livello di entità sub-nazionale inglese usati a scopi di governabilità locale. A causa della non omogenea struttura dal governo locale in Inghilterra, sono presenti quattro tipi di livelli di suddivizioni per i distretti.Alcuni distretti si definiscono borough (o borghi), altri si fregiano informalmente dello status di city (o città), altri ancora di royal borough (o borgo reale), tuttavia questi sono titoli puramente onorifici e non alterano lo status ufficiale di distretto.Tutti i borough e le city e qualche distretto sono guidati da un Mayor (o sindaco) che in molti casi è una figura cerimoniale eletta da un consiglio, ma, dopo le ultime riforme del governo locale, è occasionalmente un sindaco eletto che prende le decisioni al posto del consiglio.

Een district is een verschijningsvorm van een lokale overheid in Engeland. Het niveau van bestuur kan worden vergeleken met dat van een gemeente in Nederland.Districten hebben een verantwoordelijkheid bij het inzamelen van belastingen, huisvesting, gezondheidszorg etc.Door de structuur van de lokale overheid in Engeland bestaan er vier verschillende soorten van districten.
