Denmark

Denmark, officially the Kingdom of Denmark (, , (archaic:) ) is the southernmost and territorially the smallest of the five Nordic countries if its offshore territories are excluded, and the largest if they are included. Denmark is one of the Scandinavian countries. The mainland is located north of its only land neighbour, Germany, southwest of Sweden, and south of Norway. Denmark also encompasses two off-shore territories, the Faroe Islands and Greenland, granted home rule in 1948 and 1979, respectively. The national capital is Copenhagen.

La Danimarca (ufficialmente Regno di Danimarca) è il più piccolo stato della Scandinavia, oltre ad essere quello situato più a sud. Si trova a nord dell'unico stato ad essa confinante via terra, la Germania, a sud-ovest della Svezia e a sud della Norvegia. La capitale è Copenaghen.La Danimarca è considerata come facente parte dei paesi scandinavi anche se in effetti non si trova sulla penisola scandinava. Il Regno di Danimarca (Danmarks Rige) comprende la Danimarca vera e propria, le Isole Fær Øer e la Groenlandia.La Danimarca si affaccia sia sul Mar Baltico che sul Mar del Nord. Il paese è composto da un'ampia penisola, lo Jutland, che confina con il nord della Germania, a cui si aggiungono un considerevole numero di isole, tra le quali Sjælland, Fyn, Falster, Lolland, Vendsyssel-Thy e Bornholm oltre a centinaia di isolette minori a cui talvolta ci si riferisce come all'arcipelago danese. Storicamente la Danimarca ha da sempre controllato l'accesso al Mar Baltico e queste acque sono conosciute anche, infatti, come gli Stretti danesi.
