Delhi

Delhi (, , ) sometimes referred to as Dilli, is the second-largest metropolis in India after Mumbai with a population of 13 million, and with an extended metropolitan population of almost 22 million. Located in northern India on the banks of the River Yamuna, Delhi has the political status of a federally-administered union territory known as the National Capital Territory of Delhi (NCT). A constitutional amendment in 1991 gave Delhi a special status among the Union Territories; Delhi has its own legislative assembly with limited powers. The National Capital Territory of Delhi comprises nine districts, 27 tehsils, three statutory towns viz. Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), New Delhi Municipal Committee (NDMC) and Delhi Cantonment Board (DCB), 59 census towns and 165 villages.

Situé dans le nord de l'Inde, sur les bords du fleuve Yamuna, Delhi est la deuxième plus grande métropole de la République de l'Inde après Mumbai : elle comptait plus de 13 millions d'habitants au dernier recensement de 2001 et sa population est estimée à plus de 17 millions d'habitants en 2008 . Suite à l'amendement constitutionnel de 1991, Delhi possède sa propre assemblée législative qui n'a que des pouvoirs limités.

Delhi (hindi: दिल्ली, Dillī) ist eine Stadt im Unionsterritorium Delhi in Indien mit 11,95 Millionen Einwohnern (2008), nach Mumbai zweitgrößte Stadt des Landes. In der Metropolregion leben 18,36 Millionen Menschen (2008) Die Stadt ist Wirtschafts- und Handelszentrum, Verkehrsknoten, Kulturzentrum mit Universitäten, Theater, Museen, Galerien und Prachtbauten aus der Mogulzeit. Delhi ist die frühere Hauptstadt von Indien, seit 1931 ist Indiens Hauptstadt Neu-Delhi. Auch wenn in Lexika diverser Verlage Delhi als Hauptstadt Indiens angegeben wird, entspricht dies jedoch weitgehend nicht den Fakten. Delhi und Neu-Delhi bilden jedoch eine zusammenhängende urbane Einheit.

Delhi (hindi: दिल्ली, trb.: Dilli, trl.: Dillī; pendżabski: ਦਿੱਲੀ; urdu: دہلی; ang. Delhi) - miasto i dawna stolica Indii położona w północnych Indiach nad rzeką Jamuną; zamieszkuje ją 11,2 mln mieszkańców (2006), a aglomerację miejską 17,8 mln mieszkańców (2006). To drugie co do wielkości (po Bombaju) miasto Indii, wielki węzeł komunikacyjny, centrum przemysłu i kultury, miasto uniwersyteckie, z licznymi teatrami, galeriami, muzeami i zabytkami z okresu Wielkich Mogołów. Szerokość geograficzna 29ºN, Długość geograficzna 77ºE. 216 metrów nad poziomem morza. Powierzchnia 1483 km kwadratowych. Zagęszczenie – 23 tys. mieszkańców na km kwadratowy. Miasto przoduje w rozwoju technologii informacyjnej i telekomunikacyjnej (drugie w Indiach po Bangalore). To miasto wielu narodowości i wielu wyznań.
