Member of the Ecuadorian national team, Agustín arrived to Mexico to play with Cruz Azul, where he had hard times and never finished to settle. Moved to Rayos de Necaxa for the Verano 99 and his level increases considerably. Had a prominent participation in the 1st FIFA World Club Championship, in which he scored 2 goals and also the penalty to Real Madrid which gave Necaxa the bronze medal. In the Verano 2000 championship, Delgado scored 14 goals to become Mexican League Top Scorer. Nicknamed 'Tin' or the 'Torre' (tower).
