Decision Matrix
A decision matrix is used to describe a
Multi-Criteria Decision Analysis (MCDA) problem. If in a MCDA problem, there are M alternative options and each need to be assessed on N criteria, then the decision matrix for the problem has M rows and N columns or M X N elements, as shown in the following table. Each element, such as Xij, is either a single numerical value or a single grade, representing the performance of Alternative i on Criterion j. For example, if Alternative i is "Car i", Criterion j is "Engine Quality" assessed by five grades {Excellent, Good, Average, Below Average, Poor}, and "Car i" is assessed to be "Good" on "Engine Quality", then Xij = "Good".

Decision Matrix
a tool used in decision making in which the various dimensions of a problem are listed and rated to determine the most appropriate alternative in a particular situation.
Decision matrix
A matrix used by teams to evaluate problems or possible solutions. After a matrix is drawn to evaluate possible solutions, for example, the team lists them in the far left vertical column. Next, the team selects criteria to rate the possible solutions, writing them across the top row. Third, each possible solution is rated on a scale of 1 to 5 for each criterion, and the rating is recorded in the corresponding grid. Finally, the ratings of all the criteria for each possible solution are added to determine its total score. The total score is then used to help decide which solution deserves the most attention.
